Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) is a not-for-profit human development organisation which is registered as a Trust under the Zimbabwe Deeds Registries Act (Chapter 20:05). ZHI’s mission is to develop and deliver innovative and sustainable high impact integrated health interventions with local communities while working with and strengthening existing institutions.
The Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe women (DREAMS) Program aims to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among OVC, OVC caregivers and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in Zimbabwe. The DREAMS program is being implemented in priority high HIV burden districts in Zimbabwe. ZHI’s primary role is to deliver a comprehensive curriculum on HIV prevention, gender norms and social asset building targeted at AGYW in school, out of school and their sexual partners at community level. ZHI’s core thrust in the DREAMS Program is to keep girls and young women HIV Free through supporting them to; Stay in school; Prevent early pregnancies; Prevent sexual violence; Access Post violence care; Reduce child marriage. DREAMS provides a comprehensive, multi-sectoral package of core interventions to address key factors that make girls and young women particularly vulnerable to HIV. These include structural factors, such as gender-based violence, exclusion from economic opportunities, and a lack of access to secondary school. DREAMS layers multiple interventions at once so that AGYW are surrounded with critical support to keep them safe from HIV and other risks.

Basic Function

Assist the IT Officer with desktop support, troubleshooting desktop hardware/software problems, and carrying out projects as assigned in a culturally diverse environment. Properly document support, repair, and project activities using a helpdesk ticketing system. In general, free the IT Officer from some of the day to day issues so he/she can focus on larger projects and IT initiatives.

Job Description

Support the IT Officer in troubleshooting common hardware/software issues; Support the implementation and document network operations, processes, and procedures; Support the IT Officer in the deployment and implementation of office networks; Perform regular monitoring of staff desktop file backup/ synchronization to ensure proper functioning; identify and solve possible problems in the network and internet connectivity with the support of IT officer; Support implementation and enforcement of security on the network and prevent misuse of the IT resources; Assist with documentation of IT inventory; work closely with the IT Officer and procurement team to monitor distribution and location of IT equipment by performing a yearly inventory check-up; Assist the IT Officer in setting up, implementing, and maintaining hardware firewall; Keep the network healthy by applying all required security patches and monitoring the correct delivery of all antivirus updates; Provide technical assistance to office staffs as needed; Assist in software and hardware upgrades; Add or update workstations for office staffs; Assist in setting up and maintenance of IT policies and procedures; Provide training and administrative support to end users; Perform routine PC maintenance and updates for performance efficiency; Supervise and process help desk support requests; Assist in maintaining Internet service, firewalls, and telephone systems; Initiate process improvements to better answer user demands; Ask questions and get information to diagnose computer problems and discern what level of support is needed when a problem is presented when a problem is presented; Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Ability to provide exceptional customer service to assist staff in resolving issues regarding daily electronics use; Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with constant interruptions; Ability to think outside the box on complex issues requiring creative problem solving; Ability to plan, develop, document, test, evaluate, implement, execute and trouble shoot new installations and problems encountered during daily operations; Ability to ensure confidentiality and integrity of organization data; Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively, both orally and in written form, to other members of the organizations, contractors and other various audiences; Ability to manage multiple technology vendors to ensure they are meeting our needs and expectations; Ability to plan and execute technology projects from initial conception through completion; Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required; Ability to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities; Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously, but also able to recognize when you are in over your head; Ability to quickly gain new confidentiality skills and knowledge when faced with new challenges.

Qualifications And Experience

Degree in Information Systems or equivalent with at least one year post graduate practical experience in computer systems operations; Basic knowledge of Cisco routers/switches and other networking devices; Knowledgeable in MS Active Directory structure, software installations, backup and archive; Hardware and software troubleshooting; Printer and system maintenance: Proficient in Microsoft Office 2016, Windows 10, Windows 11 in a domain environment.
