HOUSE KEEPING SUPERVISOR: UZ VN HOTEL AND LEISURE PVT LTD (1 POST)
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be able to:
Prepare housekeeping statistics for budget and forecasts purposes
Implement and reviews housekeeping budget and provides monthly explanations
on variance analysis
Plan housekeeping activities and requirements such as service stock and cleaning
chemicals, guest supplies, and linen requirements and implements and reviews
the plans to ensure effectiveness
Plan the shifts and duty rosters to ensure adequate staff at all times and takes
into account business volumes
Ensure that manning levels are correct to agreed standards and are not exceeded
without permission
Inspect rooms for quality of cleaning by staff daily
Order linen and requests for replacements from the Front Office Supervisor
Maintain up to date and accurate records of linen stocks
Order cleaning equipment and consumables from stores and accounts for it
through up to date records
Issue the cleaning materials daily to staff and ensures safe keeping
Conduct random checks to ensure proper usage of issued cleaning materials
Check condition of cleaning tools and orders replacements
Check the rooms for any maintenance requirements weekly and forwards to the
Maintenance Supervisor for attention
Ensure that VIP rooms receive the designated extra in relation to housekeeping
issues
Liase with the Front Office Supervisor and the Hotel Manager and notify areas
needing attention in respect of décor
Plan for major cleaning of all rooms, public areas and offices
Plan for fumigation of rooms, sources quotations and seeks the Front Office
Supervisor’s approval
Participate in the recruitment of housekeeping staff
Supervise and allocates work to staff and implements performance management
Ensure that attendance registers are completed daily and in accordance with the
regulations
Ensure that all relevant time sheets are completed correctly and submitted
timeously
Identify training needs and institutes corrective action such as on the job training
Ensure daily briefings are conducted before service for effective communication
within the section
Manage and supervises the staff in the section ensuring effective management of
performance
Motivate staff in the section and attends to their welfare
Ensure that duty roasters are well planned and adequate manning levels are
achieved at all times through liaising with Supervisors
Ensure that staff are well groomed and meet standards of the hotel
Handle guest complaints regarding housekeeping issues
Plan for spring cleaning and coordinates providing time and schedules for the
cleaning
Recommend changes to furniture and fittings where necessary
Conduct monthly stock taking and compiles statistics for usage of items against
print out from Accounts department
Carry out any other duties as directed by the Front Office Supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of 5 ‘O’ Level passes including English Language and Maths.
Degree or Diploma in Housekeeping Operations/Hotel and Catering/Hospitality
Operations
A’ Level passes will be an added advantage.
At least 2 years’ experience as a Housekeeping Floor Supervisor/Public Areas
Supervisor at reputable establishments in the Hospitality Industry/ Office
Cleaning Company
