Position Summary
The Health Communications and Promotion (HCP) Specialist will support the overarching work of the organization by developing, implementing, and evaluating health communications and promotion programs. They will co-ordinate OPHID and consortium partners ensuring that public health communication and promotion is aligned with existing national health promotion and communication strategies in line with TASQC Program deliverables. The objective for the position includes the effective and efficient management of aspects covering health messaging and communications guidance in relation to HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, SHRH, non-communicable diseases and other relevant health programming that OPHID will be supporting. The PHC Specialist will be actively involved in liaising with key organizational stakeholders including partners and donors on public health messaging and communication on TASQC and related organizational issues.
Key Responsibilities
•Support the TD in conceptualization and development of program activities through giving input to context, best practices, and challenges within the scope of public health communications and health promotion.
•Assists with designing, planning, and implementing evidence-based and cost-effective strategies, policies, programs, and services.
•To develop the annual program budget aligned to annual communications work plan that guides implementation of organizational and TASQC communications and health promotion activities.
•To work with the TASQC Program Management Team, and other programme staff to ensure the translation of health promotion programming is integrated into delivery of high quality and accessible health communication and practice.
•To develop and continuously adapt the OPHID Health Communications curriculum. Adapt the curriculum to fit the needs of the target audience and community.
•To develop proactive short and long-term information dissemination strategies on TB/HIV, ASRH, NCDs and climate change to promote awareness related to the goals, work, and objectives of the organization.
•To lead the TASQC Consortium health communications and promotion teams in the implementation and monitoring implementation fidelity of the TASQC Health Communication and Promotion activities and promoting information sharing, exchange and learning for and by the organization.
•Planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating marketing plans and strategies for the organization
•To actively participate in the communication and health promotion clusters, thematic and technical working groups under MOHCC and other key fora by providing technical expertise on issues around TB/HIV, ASRH and NCDs Programming.
•To set quality and production standards for the programme for public information and other technical staff throughout the organization, engaged in preparing technical documents, speeches, declarations, and press releases, and advise on content and most effective dissemination techniques.
•To propose and design milestones for events, campaign teams and campaigns, messages and position statements that effectively convey issues to target audiences, at country and community levels, to support the HIV/AIDS, TB, ASRH and NCDs area of work.
•To provide expert advice to the TASQC Program consortium teams and OPHID Senior Management Team and other senior staff on interface with the media, partners, and government officials in respect of the program deliverables and serve as the consortium key focal person on media related issues.

Person Specification
•A degree in health or a health-related qualification.
•A qualification (preferably at master’s level) in communication or media studies or knowledge management is an added advantage.
•At least three or more years of prior public health communication work experience is required.
•A good understanding of the Zimbabwe healthcare system is an added advantage.
•Excellent typing and emailing proficiency including expert knowledge of MS Office applications, databases, and internet.
•Have broad experience and understanding of adolescent, reproductive and sexual health (ASRH), maternal, neonatal, child health and nutrition (MNCHN), TB-HIV and non-communicable disease programming.
•Experience working on PEPFAR/USAID-funded activities, or other NGO forums is desirable.
•A good command in written and verbal communication skills including correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
•Should be multi-lingual in vernacular languages (must be conversant in at least ChiShona and isiNdebele)
•Experience in networking, electronic and print media as well as social media.
