Head Of Sales & Operations Job Description
The Head of Sales and Operations reports directly to the Country Manager. This position is responsible for ensuring that all Mukuru branches are functioning optimally and in accordance with internal and external regulations. Internal liaison takes place with all support staff and branch staff. External liaison takes place with all 3rd party suppliers. An additional focus is on the growth of the Zimbabwean customer base and the cross-selling of new products.

Key Performance

Operational Oversight

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership in managing all aspects of the company’s sales and operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with established standards and procedures.

Periodic Booth/Branch and Sales Activation Inspections

  • Create a monthly and quarterly inspection schedule.
  • Conduct inspections as per schedule.
  • Identify areas of non-compliance and correct on the spot if possible or implement required changes.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure corrections have been made.
  • Carry out stock checks and ensure that cash in branch is checked and signed off by the branch manager monthly.

Drive New Business and Strategic Market Growth

  • Identify and implement new revenue streams and Value-Added Services.
  • Generate Sales and Marketing initiatives outside stores to generate footfall into stores.
  • Create a strategic plan to attract key new market nationalities into stores.
  • Drive digitization of financial flows.
  • Negotiate strategic partnerships with potential partners.

Reporting

  • Gather all the weekly reports from all the various branches.
  • Combine and compile an integrated weekly/monthly report.
  • Meet with the relevant directors to provide feedback on the reports.
  • Participate and contribute in any additional required meetings.

Resolve General Problems in the Branches Timeously

  • Investigate and respond to supplier queries and issues.
  • In the event of a discrepancy, search for differences in totals.
  • Process and sign off additional computer requests and orders.
  • Identify and resolve system issues or escalate to IT when required.
  • Respond to queries regarding suppliers.

Perform General People Management Functions

  • Build, train, and manage a high-performing sales and operations team. Set clear goals, provide ongoing feedback, and foster a culture of excellence.
  • Ensure all SOPs relevant to strategic outcomes and risk management objectives and ensure compliance with SOPs.
  • Drive tactical strategy in terms of growth of the Zimbabwean customer base and adoption of new products.

Performance Monitoring

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), track operational metrics, generate reports, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare for and hold monthly KPI meetings with each direct report.
  • Coach and mentor staff when required.
  • Ensure all staff attend required training courses.
