The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development in collaboration with the Public Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacancy that has arisen in the Department of the Surveyor General
20x Geospatial Technician (D1- D5) distributed as follows;
E1 : 9x Geospatial Technician (D1- D5) Small Scale Maps
E2 : 3x Geospatial Technician (D1- D5) Medium Scale Maps
E3 : 4x Geospatial Technician (D1- D5) Thematic Maps
E4 : 4x Geospatial Technician (D1- D5) Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
E1 : 9x Geospatial Technician (D1- D5) Small Scale Maps
STATION : Harare Office
REPORTS TO : Geospatial Officer (Small Scale Maps)
DEPARTMENT : Surveyor General
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Revising national maps through acquiring and capturing mapping data.
2. Digitising and georeferencing maps.
3. Overlaying maps with base maps already in existence.
4. Carrying out field verifications (ground truthing).
5. Editing maps after field verifications.
6. Creating map symbols, marginal information and placing annotations.
7. Compiling and submitting weekly small-scale map reports to the Geospatial
Officer (Small Scale Maps).
8. Performing other relevant duties as assigned by the Geospatial Officer (Small
Scale Maps).
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
The desired candidate should;
Hold a National Diploma/Higher National Diploma in Cartography and Geo visualisation or equivalent.
Be able to use GIS, Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry equipment.
Experience in performing cartographic duties will be an added advantage.
Be highly organized, analytical and accurate.
Be computer literate and able to use GIS software
