The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development in collaboration with the Public Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacancies that have arisen in the Department of the Surveyor General.
4x Geospatial Technician (D1- D5) Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
STATION : Harare Office
REPORTS TO : Geospatial Officer (GIS)
DEPARTMENT : Surveyor General
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collecting relevant GIS data from various stakeholders.
2. Capturing geographical names, maintaining and retrieving data.
3. Determining relevant GIS datasets.
4. Analyising GIS data.
5. Presenting maps, graphs and statistics to the Geospatial Officer (GIS).
6. Compiling and submitting weekly GIS reports to the Geospatial Officer (GIS).
7. Offering secretarial services to the Geographic Names Committee.
8. Performing other relevant duties as assigned by the Geospatial Officer (GIS).
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
The desired candidate should;
Hold a National Diploma/ Higher National Diploma in Cartography and Geovisualisation, Geographical Information Systems or equivalent.
Be able to use GIS, Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry equipment.
Experience in performing cartographic/GIS duties will be an added
advantage.
Be highly organized, analytical and accurate.
Be computer literate and able to use GIS software
