About
Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) is a not-for-profit human development organisation which is registered as a Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO 17/22). ZHI’s mission is to develop and deliver innovative and sustainable high impact integrated health interventions with local communities while working with and strengthening existing institutions.
Basic Function
The Financial Analyst (FA) will support a portfolio of projects including the Re-Ignite, Sustain and Empower (RISE), and the Accelerated and Comprehensive HIV Care and Treatment for Epidemic Control in Zimbabwe (ACCE), which are five-year projects funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Reporting to the Head of Finance (HoF), the FA will coordinate financial operations, including overall financial monitoring and support to projects to ensure the fiscal well-being of the projects. The FA will provide financial management and technical support on budget variance analysis (BVA). The FA prepares financial dashboard and pipelines for the organisation. S/He also provides high level analytical expertise, implementing business development strategies by providing support on cost/budget proposals. The role is pivotal on the coordination of both USAID and statutory audits.
Job Description
Support the HoF on the preparation of financial and management reports to the Board of Trustees, Senior Management Team (SMT); Support the HoF on managing organisational finances and treasury functions; Budget monitoring and variance analysis report on the corporate budget; Responsible for processing of payroll and other organisational payments, reconciliations; Provide support to the projects on budget and financial management; Support projects with the Budget Variance Analysis (BVA) processes; Prepares financial dashboard for the organisation and consolidation of financial reports; Prepares monthly shared management costs and labour allocation schedules; Coordinate USAID and statutory audits for the organisation;
Reviews and monitors multiple country program budgets with annual budgets; Collaborates with the project Finance and Operation Directors to ensure best quality financial reports; Provides on-site and remote financial technical assistance to project staff and provides guidance on policy and regulations related to procurement and compliance; Interprets and provides explanation for discrepancies and variations in financial data; Processing of payments for suppliers, statutory, consultants, and internal staff; Analyse and resolve complex challenges; Uses financial systems to produce reports, analysis, financial models and databases; Provides technical support on budgetary and cost proposal development; Any other tasks as assigned by the HoF.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge of local and donor contractual requirements and regulations; Knowledge of generally accepted accounting, budgeting and fiscal control theory and practices; Budget development skills with multi funding sources and general ledger skills; Relevant software skills to include automated accounting software and database spreadsheets; Ability to work with others and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff and subrecipients; Demonstrated analytical skills in the interpretation of budgetary, financial and related management information;
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and handle work pressure; Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills; Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high level of accuracy; Maintain confidentiality for sensitive issues or projects and use judgment and decision-making to execute duties and responsibilities; Must exhibit high levels of professionalism, integrity and ethical values at all times; Must possess excellent time management skills, both in planning and organizing work to meet deadlines; Ability to effectively communicate financial and internal control issues to staff with little or no financial background; Ability to travel a minimum of 25%.
Qualifications And Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or Related discipline; Masters’ Degree, CPA, CA, ACCA, or an equivalent is a plus. 5 years of progressively responsible accounting, finance and operational management; Knowledge of U.S. Government grants, contracting and auditing standards as they apply to effective management of multi-year funds; Must demonstrate excellent analytical skills in advanced excel; Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff;
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English; Non-governmental organization (NGO), government, or private sector experience preferred; Works under very general supervision; Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy; Proficiency in spreadsheet software required.
