INTRODUCTION

SRHR Africa Trust (SAT) supports adolescents and young people in Southern Africa to walk healthy,
happy, confident & safe pathways to adulthood. We’re an UN ECOSOC accredited 33-year-old NGO and
network of activists, NGOs, and supporters, focused on young people, SRHR, and the drivers of
adolescent health and wellness.

All our programming is with young people and through young people, and our Youth Hubs and partner
organizations link young people to one another, as well as linking them to health services, governments,
the African Union Commission, and global agencies.

SAT has offices and programming in South Africa, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, and a
network of partners and programming in Namibia, Mozambique, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Mali, Niger,
and Burkino Faso. The office in South Africa also houses the regional function which collaborates with
partners globally, at the African Union Commission, at SADC level in Southern Africa.

JOB PURPOSE

The main purpose of a Financial Officer is to record, summarise and report on the financial transactions
of SAT Zimbabwe office. Understanding the site’s financial performance by ensuring accurate and timeous
financial reporting and variance analysis is the core accountability of the finance officer. These reports
include SAT internal, donor and partner reporting activities. In being accountable for the full site finance
function, the person is involved in managing the finance and governance functions of partner recruitment
and Partner Learning and Development activities.

MAIN TASK AND DUTIES

a) Prepare annual financial statements within agreed time scales to comply with all legal/statutory
requirements.
b) Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements relating to financial control, financial
management and accounting, including the implementation and adherence to finance policies,
procedures and systems.
c) Prepare financial reports detailing actual income and expenditure and forecasts against budget
within agreed timescales.

d) Ensure that all reconciliations are prepared in an accurate and timely basis, for example bank
reconciliations, debtors, creditors and inter-company account.
e) Develop annual budgets in collaboration with key stakeholders.
f) Ensure payroll and payroll related payments to employees are made by respective due dates.
g) Manage all operational finance activities in an efficient and effective way.
h) Maintain current standing with all mandated local tax and benefits registrations and
requirements, including submissions of payments and reports (SARS etc).

REQUIREMENTS

a) Degree in Accounting or National Diploma in Accounting or relevant accounting/finance
qualification
b) Good level of presentation and report writing skills. Excellent written and oral communication
skills.
c) 3-5 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role
