FINANCE MANAGER: ROLE PROFILE

A fast-growing Bulawayo-based manufacturing company seeking to hire a Finance Manager. This position plays a critical role in driving financial performance, managing risks, and supporting strategic decision-making to ensure long-term success of the company. Reporting to the Managing Director, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities including but not limited to; budgetary control, producing financial statements, management accounts and reports, managing the cash flow, and ensuring that all accounting activities adhere to statutory and financial regulatory requirements. This cross-functional role provides expertise in articulating the finance philosophy within the organization and leading discussions around the finance strategy, including participation in formulating the overall organization strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy: Collaborate with senior management to develop financial strategies that support the company’s growth and profitability goals. Evaluate investment opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives

2. Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and oversee the company’s financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance.

3. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and key performance indicators to monitor the financial health of the company. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.

4. Cost Management: Manage and control costs across various functions of the organization, including production, procurement, and distribution. Implement cost reduction initiatives and monitor cost variances.

5. Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and optimize the company’s liquidity position. Develop strategies to improve cash flow and manage financial risks.

6. Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks facing the company, including market risks, operational risks, and financial risks. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the company’s financial interests.

7. Tax Planning and Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. Develop tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize the company’s tax position.

8. Financial Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensure accuracy of financial data, and prevent fraud. Conduct regular audits to assess the effectiveness of financial controls.

9. Financial Systems and Processes: Oversee financial systems and processes to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance financial reporting capabilities. Identify opportunities for automation and digital transformation.

10. Team Management: Lead and develop a team of finance professionals. Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to enhance the team’s capabilities and performance.

Job Skills and Competencies

Ability to manage timelines and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
Good analytical, report writing and communication skills.
Engage, support and deal with multiple instructions.
A high degree of computer literacy.
A practical and commercial approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent from a recognized Institution.
A qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) will be an added advantage
At least 3 years’ experience at strategic/senior level
Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or MBL is a distinct advantage.
At least 5 years relevant post-graduate experience of which 3 years should be at senior managerial level.
Financial services sector/manufacturing industry experience is an added advantage.
Experience in managing a diverse team of finance professionals is essential.
