Factory SHE Manager – Zimbabwe – Harare
About the Role:
Reporting to the Factory Manager, the successful incumbent will support and advise the Factory Management team in all aspects of Safety, Health & Environment with a strong focus on implementing Market-level initiatives, including developing & driving site initiatives leading to continuous improvement in SHE performance in line with the Companies Continuous Excellence mindset of zero accidents and incidents and compliance to the Company and relevant legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to all SHE related legislation and necessary by-laws.
- Ensure that annual SHE objectives and targets are set, agreed and measured Direct and co-ordinate the development and implementation of the sites SHE strategy & program.
- Implement, control, maintain and improve the Site SHE Management systems including
- achieving and maintaining ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 certification.
- Ensure adherence to all company principles, policies and requirements related to SHE.
- Ensure that all work is carried out according to the SHE Policies, standards and procedures, by implementing and maintaining a behavioural based safety (BBS) program.
- Assist in ensuring that the different technical safety functions (ammonia, etc) are filled by competent specialists and ensure that the mandatory technical inspections are run according to the legal and corporate specifications.
- Ensure that SHE incident investigations are conducted, the root causes are identified, and the follow-up actions are completed.
- Conduct a comprehensive six monthly SHE inspection and submit a written report of this inspection; and ensure continuous control of SHE issues by organising SHE self-audits.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Safety, Environmental Management or related qualification
- 5 – 7 years’ experience industrial SHE management
- Food Industry Experience advantageous
- Knowledge of effective approaches, systems & procedures in SHE management
- Good Communication and people skills
