1. MANDATE OF APPOINTING OFFICERS OF PARLIAMENT
Section 154 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe stipulates that the Clerk of Parliament and other Staff
of Parliament are appointed on terms of conditions of service approved from, time to time, by the
Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (CSRO) and are Public Officers, distinct and separate
from the Civil Service. These appointments are on an open, performance based contracts subject
to the provisions of the Officers of Parliament (Terms of Service) Regulations, 2018, as amended
from time to time.
Applications are, therefore, invited from suitably qualified and experienced Zimbabwean citizens
below the age of fifty (50), with a clean disciplinary / criminal record, to fill the following vacant
positions

Reports To: A Designated Deputy Clerk/ or Chief Director

Job Description
 Provides secretarial services to a designated Chief Director;
 Handles incoming and outgoing calls;
 Takes minutes of all meetings chaired by the respective supervisor as maybe required;
 Organizes meetings for the respective supervisor;
 Manages appointment register for the respective supervisor;
 Types all correspondence i.e. letters, memoranda, minutes and reports;
 Manages records in the supervisor’s office and in liaison with the central registry
department (hard and soft copies);
 Handles all stakeholders/visitors in the Office; and
 Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

Minimum Person Specification
 A degree in Office Administration
 A Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies/Office Administration
 Must possess good inter-personal & communication skills
 Ability to work under pressure
 Ability to handle confidential information
 Extensive user experience with MS Office packages
 At least 2 years relevant working experience as an Executive Assistant or Private Secretary
for degree holders
 At least 5 years relevant working experience as an Executive Assistant or Private Secretary
for holders of Higher National Diplomas
