E-Learning Support Assistants – (2 Posts)
Qualifications and Experience
- Applicants should possess a Higher National Diploma or a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education with Technology, or any related discipline involving substantial training in the application of technology to education;
- Candidates must demonstrate relevant experience in educational environments, particularly in training, technology integration, or ICT user support. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and various web development tools is essential;
- Applicants should have proven experience in developing online content using a variety of internet and multimedia development tools such as Dreamweaver, HTML, Photoshop, Flash, Wikis, Blogs, Second Life, among others;
- A working knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) or content management systems (CMS), including platforms like Moodle, Sakai, or Google Classroom, is required;
- Familiarity with PCs, mobile devices, servers, and a wide range of software applications is expected. Experience working collaboratively with faculty, support staff, and students – preferably in a higher education environment – is highly desirable;
- Applicants should also have first-hand experience with online learning, either as a student or instructor, and be adept in the use of educational interactive multimedia, simulations, and games. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential;
- Experience in implementing a Helpdesk system will be considered an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
The applicants will be required to provide day-to-day support, pre-semester setup, and training in the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS), educational technologies, and other services provided by CETID. They will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Provide daily support and troubleshooting for the various teaching and learning technologies used by the University;
- Diagnose and resolve issues, or escalate problems promptly to the Learning Technologies and Systems Administration team for resolution;
- Respond to end-user requests and address problems raised by users of deployed systems and technology tools;
- Collaborate with other unit teams to develop and manage electronic educational content across multiple platforms, including MOODLE, Google Applications, Lecture Capture systems, and other emerging technologies;
- Coordinate the creation and implementation of course shells in collaboration with the MOODLE administration team, and assist faculty members in developing course content;
- Develop user documentation such as user guides, how-to manuals, FAQs, best practices, and standard troubleshooting procedures;
- Provide support for the course and peer evaluation systems.
