Job Details
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of a first degree in either of the following areas: Security and Risk Management, Police and Security Studies, Security and Intelligence, Security management, and Security and Disaster Management Studies. The candidate must also have at least fifteen (15) years’ experience in the security field with at least five (5) years at managerial level. Investigation and intelligence processing experience is a must and experience in a University setup will be an added advantage.
Personal Attributes
Reporting to the Director, Security Services, the incumbent must be a team player, honest, mature, professional, hardworking and possess no criminal record. Comprehensive understanding of security systems is a must. In addition, applicants should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Participating in overseeing the day to day administrative functions of the Security Department;
Participating in formulating security related policies;
Advising the Director, Security Services on all security related issues;
Assisting in developing and recommending security strategies for the University Campuses;
Supervising and directing operations of the University Guards through Security Officers and Sergeants;
Assisting in budget preparation for security operations and monitoring departmental expenses;
Developing training plans and programmes;
Investigating theft and other security breaches that may occur in the University from time to time and produce reports;
Producing reports of criminal cases that may arise;
Advising new students about Security issues at the University; and
Carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Director, Security Services.
