The Data Quality Assurance Analyst reports to the Quality Assurance Director. The incumbent shall provide data analytics services to improve all quality matters in the academic and support sectors of the University. He/she will work closely with Quality Assurance Auditors and Officers to collect, process, and analyse quality assurance data; present findings to the University stakeholders and provide insights to management for informed decision-making as well as develop and implement data quality standards and processes and guide the development of data management policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must have at least:

  • A Bachelor’s a degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics or Mathematics;
  • A related Master’s degree would be an added advantage;
  • At least three (3) years relevant experience in higher education.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Documenting the University’s academic data including survey responses, exam results, report grades and other specific academic areas;
  • Maintaining all academic data systems within the University to provide accurate and clear reports;
  • Providing analysis, briefings, reports and detailed plans for internal reviews (pre and post-moderation) and support and assist in the coordination of external reviews and accreditation;
  • Implementing and maintaining protocols for testing and reconciling data accuracy, and making timely and accurate database changes;
  • Managing current information technology tools for quality assurance including (but not limited to) the University LMS, course evaluation tools, etc;
  • Documenting and providing required data needs for quality assurance grant application process (both pre and post award) including institution and related information including (but not limited to) all academic and non-academic data and statistics, e.g.: faculty research analysis and annual assessments;
  • Collecting, analysing and reporting data on the performance of academic affairs activities including funded projects and operational/administrative functions;
  • Any other duties related to quality assurance business as may be assigned from time to time by the Quality Assurance Director.

Desired Skills and Attributes

The Data Quality Analyst should have the following skills and attributes: –

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, R, JavaScript, Scala, and data profiling tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of data quality standards and processes.
  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance regulations.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify data quality issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with data cleaning and preparation techniques.
  • Familiarity with database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and techniques.
  • Knowledge of data privacy principles and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Experience with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
