The Avenues Clinic a Grade A multidisciplinary hospital which offers a wide range of specialist services, outstanding nursing care and a top service approach seeks to recruit a Cook to prepare quality meals for patients, doctors and staff members.
The Role
- Cleans and disinfects work surfaces and washes cleaning cloths throughout the food preparation process using the 3-bucket system
- Reads the menu for the day and collects ingredients needed for the preparation of dishes.
- Reads meal orders from diet aides for special instructions.
- Assembles texturized feeds (Specials Section).
- Assembles meats for cooking (Main dish section).
- Prepares accompanying sauces for meats (Main dish section).
- Prepares vegetables, starches and salads (Vegetable and starch section).
- Prepares pastries and desserts (Pastry Section).
- Cooks the prepared ingredients.
- Maintains all meal serving times as scheduled.
- Communicates with fellow cooks and diet aides during food production.
The Person
The ideal person should possess the following minimum qualifications and attributes:
- At least 5 ‘O’ Level passes
- Class one (1) Journeyman
- 1 year experience in an industrial kitchen with a la carte service.
- Experience working in a medical facility an added advantage
- Strong background in pastry an added advantage.
- Must be mature, pleasant, courteous, cooperative and an enthusiastic team player with good communication skills.
- Able to work under pressure
- Must be flexible in working hours.
