About
Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) is a not-for-profit human development organisation which is registered as a Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO 17/22). ZHI’s mission is to develop and deliver innovative and sustainable high impact integrated health interventions with local communities while working with and strengthening existing institutions.
The Accelerated and Comprehensive HIV Care for Epidemic Control in Zimbabwe (ACCE) project’s objective is to complement the government of Zimbabwe (GOZ)’s efforts towards epidemic control by targeting testing to efficiently identify PLHIV, ensuring all newly diagnosed PLHIV are immediately linked to treatment, and all PLHIV on treatment have ready access to antiretroviral therapy (ART), are retained on treatment, and remain virally suppressed. The program is being implemented in 9 districts in Midlands (Gweru, Kwekwe, Mberengwa and Gokwe South) and in Manicaland (Makoni, Mutare, Chipinge, Mutasa and Buhera).
Basic Function
Collaborative Learning and Adaptation (CLA) Officer works under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Advisor in addressing knowledge gaps for the ACCE project through design and implementation of operational research and development of appropriate data management processes including collection, collation, cleaning, and analysis. He/she will provide learning materials to program staff, management, and other stakeholders in accessible formats.
Job Description
Design and implementation of research; Lead the design and implementation of operational research, program assessments / evaluations and HIV-related surveillance including; development of study protocols and data collection tools; development of study work plans, budgets, and standard operational procedures (SOP); application for local and international study ethics approval; recruitment, training, and supervision of research teams; data collection supervision; ensure quality assurance of research data; data cleaning and analysis; study report writing and dissemination of findings; Ensure compliance with ZHI, national and international guidelines and ethics governing implementation of human subjects’ research; Provide technical assistance to Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) to strengthen research for HIV and TB programs; Field supervision of university research interns; Actively participate in development of new funding proposals; Analysis of Program Data Work closely with technical and SIE staff in the analysis of routine program data using appropriate statistical packages for quantitative data (Epi-Info, Stata, SPSS) and software packages that are designed to handle qualitative data such as ATLAS.ti or N-Vivo; Facilitate interpretation and use of programmatic data. Package analysis outputs and infographics into slide decks and narrative reports for internal and external dissemination; Support operationalization of research results; Create platforms for sharing results of deep dives, operational research and program evaluation findings and facilitate integration of research activities into routine program implementation; Coordinate the interpretation of research findings and translate recommendations into program strategies for implementation; Work with staff on professional development, team management and team building to create a learning and knowledge management agenda; Support quality improvement capacity building of district and site-level staff including; development/review of training materials; training of district and site-level staff, and coaching and mentoring of district and site level staff; Support design and implementation of quality improvement (QI) plans including review of QI plans developed by site level staff and participate in QI review meetings; Systematic documentation of quality improvement initiatives focusing on implementation approach, success stories and lessons learnt; Dissemination of best practices and lessons learnt through program briefs, conference abstracts and manuscripts; Documentation and dissemination of best practices; Translate research results to inform policy and strategies to strengthen interventions and programming across supported communities; Coordinate knowledge sharing through collaborating, learning, and adapting platforms with other stakeholders to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of public health interventions; Assist in dissemination of research and routine program results and lessons learnt locally (district, provincial and national levels), regionally and internationally through presentations, reports, and publications in peer reviewed journals; Represent ZHI in various fora and technical working groups disseminating study findings and lessons learnt; Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Proficiency in use of statistical packages such as STATA, SPSS, Epi-Infor for data management and analysis; Ability to work independently (coordinate implementation of research project with minimal supervision); Excellent communication skills (documentation, report writing, presentations, proposal writing and publications).
Qualifications And Experience
Master’s degree in public health, biostatistics, or demography with at least 3 years of experience in collaboration, learning and adapting;
Competence and proven experience in design and implementation of quantitative and qualitative research with proof of publications in peer reviewed journals.
