CLEARING CONTROLLER

Job description:

A prominent player in the freight and logistics industry, is seeking a highly capable Clearing Controller to join their team in Harare, Zimbabwe. As a Clearing Controller, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and managing the customs clearance process for import and export shipments. The role will involve ensuring compliance with customs regulations, coordinating with various stakeholders, and providing effective leadership to the clearing team.

Responsibilities:

Manage the customs clearance process for import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and requirements
Coordinate with suppliers, shipping lines, customs officials, and other relevant parties to facilitate smooth clearance procedures.
Lead and manage a team of clearing staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
Monitor and track the progress of clearance activities to ensure timely delivery of shipments.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to customs clearance processes.
Stay updated with changes in customs legislation and procedures, and effectively communicate these changes to the team.
Resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise during the customs clearance process.
Collaborate with internal teams, such as operations and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination and customer satisfaction.
Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the clearing operations.

Qualifications

Diploma in Customs Legislation and Procedures is a must
Degree in Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.
Diploma in Shipping and Logistics or equivalent is preferred
Minimum of 4 years of working experience in customs clearance, preferably in the freight and logistics industry
