Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the
following posts that have arisen in the University:

WORKS AND ESTATES DEPARTMENT
Class One Plumber (1 Post)

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have at least 5 Ordinary Level passes including English Language
and Mathematics at Grade C or better, a Journeyman Class One (1) and a National
Certificate in Plumbing and Drain Laying or equivalent. Applicants should have at
least five years’ experience in plumbing and drain laying, knowledge in water
supply and waste water.

Duties and Responsibilities
 Interpretation of drawings and planning the layout of water supply, disposal
and sewer systems;
 Installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures for water and
sewer systems;
 Estimate plumbing materials and assisting with the selection of appropriate
materials;
 Inspection of completed jobs and testing systems for functionality and
compliance;
 Maintenance of plumbing equipment and tools inventory;
 Maintenance of gutters and down pipes;
 Responding to emergencies;
 Any other related duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Leave, contributory medical aid and pension are offered. Information on salary and
