Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Chief Operations Officer to lead the operations
function of our microinsurance company in Zimbabwe. The successful candidate will be
responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring that all
operational activities are carried out efficiently and effectively, and that the company meets its
business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all operational activities of the company, including business development
underwriting, reinsurance, claims, and customer service. - Develop and implement operational strategies and policies to improve efficiency,
reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. - Manage and lead a team of operations staff, including training and development,
performance management, and succession planning. - Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Develop and manage budgets for operational functions, ensuring cost-effectiveness and
efficiency. - Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to streamline
operations and reduce waste. - Collaborate with other departments, such to ensure alignment of operational activities
with business objectives. - Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational
performance and identify areas for improvement. - Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, suppliers, and agents and
broker to ensure efficient delivery of services.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field.
- A Masters Degree is an added advantage
- A minimum of ten (10) years of working experience in the short-term insurance industry of
which 5 years should be in a Managerial position. - Strong understanding of insurance industry regulations and standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
