Job Description
Position Summary
CNFA is currently seeking qualified Chief of Party (COP) candidates for the upcoming Zimbabwe Global Development Alliance Activity for the agriculture sector. The COP is responsible for overall program implementation, strategic direction, relations within the Alliance members (USAID and a private sector organization), financial and impact reporting and management of the activity staff, and any other external support services. The COP will be the main implementation point of contact between the Activity and USAID.
Develop technical reports, annual work plans, and overall management of the program in line with USAID guidelines and within set timelines to achieve objectives;
Oversee program administration, operations, implementation, and fiscal management to ensure technical and financial activity aligns with scope and budget allocations, internal policies, and donor regulations;
Support the development of strong M&E mechanisms, program monitoring tools and efficient systems to ensure high-quality implementation;
Ensure quality control and provide overall technical and management leadership under the award; adjust programs and operations in response to USAID/Zimbabwe technical direction;
Identify issues and risks related to activity implementation in a timely manner; and
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to economic development, international development, agriculture, livestock management, and economics. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience and expertise in agriculture, market development, NRM, or carbon markets development, successfully achieving meaningful and sustainable results; experience in commercialization of non-timber forest products is strongly preferred;
Regional or international technical and/or program management experience strongly preferred in addition to work experience in Zimbabwe;
Experience in managing complex markets and/or agricultural development programs with a private sector/multi-value chain development focus, preferably within Africa;
Demonstrated experience working with counterparts at various levels of government, as well as with non-government organizations (including private sector associations/organizations) in managing international development assistance activities;
In-depth knowledge of USAID policies, and regulations;
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead large teams and work effectively and collaboratively in team environments;
Strong technical expertise, management skills, and a strong command of English technical writing and communication skills.
