Hand in Hand Zimbabwe (HiH Zim) is part of a global network of legally independent partner organisations working together under the brand Hand in Hand, using the same method and sharing learnings. Hand in Hand invites applications for the following vacant position:
Chief Executive Officer
Purpose of the position
The purpose of the CEO position is to work closely with the HiH Zim Board of Directors to provide overall direction and leadership for Hand in Hand Zimbabwe to achieve its strategic goals and objectives and ensuring that the necessary resources are in place to achieve them, both currently and looking forward in the future.
Main Purpose:
(a) Work closely with the Board in the development and implementation of HiH Zim strategic plans.
b) Lead and oversee daily operations of the organisation, providing executive direction for program internal policies, and financial administration and monitoring systems. strategies and efficiencies, overall compliance from different donors, and quality assurance.
c) Lead, manage and motivate staff, and overseeing processes such as hiring, separation, ongoing staff capacity development, performance management, and compensation and benefits.
d) Lead the fundraising and resource mobilisation efforts of HiH Zim including development of project/ programme proposals, and engagement with potential and existing donors and funders.
e) Developing and maintaining a positive organizational culture and workplace so that it is an attractive place to work and develop.
(f) Continuously be able to look for new and innovative ways to develop, expand and improve the current work portfolio as well as looking into the future and seeing what trends will need to be incorporated into the organisation..
g) Increase awareness and strengthening of the brand of the organisation as a key development actor by ensuring implementation of effective information and communication strategies and representation in events, conferences, and partnership meetings.
h) For interacting and communicating with government authorities in Zimbabwe and different levels, as well as with other international embassies, donors, private sector, institutions, academia, etc.
Qualifications:
(a) Degree in development studies, business management, economics, or related field;
b) At least 5 years experience holding an executive position in a development or Non-Governmental Organisation.
c) Very good knowledge about:
-the development context in Zimbabwe;
-the donor community and development actors
-innovative approaches and methodologies for rural enterprise development;
-socio-economic empowerment of women;
-approaches towards ensuring gender equality.
-rural youth development;
-Human Rights Based Approach development;
-climate change approaches (mitigation, adaptation and resilience).
d) Computer literate and excellent written and oral communication skills (in necessary local language as well as in English) and comfortable speaking into front of groups
(e) Clean Class 4 driving license and ability to travel in-country and internationally

The successful candidate will be engaged on an annual contractual basis to be renewed based on performance and will be stationed in the HiH Zimbabwe offices at 73 Heyman Road, Suburbs, Bulawayo.
