Responsibilities
- Work with a cross-functional team of experts to design, develop, and optimize food products that meet customer taste, stability and regulatory requirements
- Perform routine, usually basic laboratory testing and maintenance of laboratory equipment/systems; to review data vs. specifications and perform lab investigations as needed; and to perform basic troubleshooting of analytical methods and equipment.
- Produce controlled documentation such as Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), Certificate of Analysis and product specifications
- Carry out routine quality control on water, beverages and food ingredients
- Responsible for analyzing raw materials, intermediates, and final products following company processes and procedures.
- Investigating non-compliance test results to assure the substance meets internal and external specifications.
- Leads or assists new product development including new particle/process/method development and/or testing and characterization tailored to applications, scale-up from laboratory to commercial scale including plant or customer site trials.
- Write technical reports documenting scientific work, analysis, and conclusions. Communicate results via technical and business-focused presentations.
- Prepare and present technical reports, documents, and presentations to support product development and regulatory submissions
- Ensure all required formulation, feasibility work, analysis, validation, stability testing, industrial trials and dossier preparation are performed on time and to the required quality and regulatory standards and in line with the Kooqs Trading processes. Ensure all documentation is fit for purpose and audit ready.
- Develops experimental formulas, processing procedures, and specifications for raw ingredients, subassemblies, and finished products for product innovation and renovation that meet project parameters of established pricing, marketing goals, food regulations, and operational feasibility.
- Evaluates ingredients and processing techniques to identify and commercialize product improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Technology, Food Science or Equivalent
- At least 2 years experience in Research and Development of Food and Beverages and working knowledge of HACCP and ISO 9001:2015
- Prior experience in product development
