Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the Business Unit Accountant position that has arisen at the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe.
DUTIES
- Ensures profitable operations of the business unit to make a positive contribution to the results of the whole Cottco business.
- Authorizes cash for cotton purchases.
- Verifies subsidiary summaries of seed cotton purchases.
- Verifies physical stocks at Common Buying Points against reports submitted.
- Reconciles seed cotton purchases against seed cotton received at the main ginnery.
- Prepares cash flow plan for seed cotton purchases.
- Requests funding on time from head office as per cash flow plan.
- Prepares intake and production reconciliations.
- Prepares operational budgets.
- Prepares financial statements for the business unit.
- Prepares a variance analysis between budget and actual expenditure.
- Designs and implements business unit internal controls
- Ensures all expenditure is within budget.
- Ensures security of all company assets including hardware and software.
- Conducts regular cash counts.
- Carries out spot and standard stock counts.
- Prepares and submits information for external audit purposes.
- Response to audit issues raised.
- Approves Business Unit payments.
- Ensures daily back up and correct system parameters are adhered to.
- Checks adherence to the ICT policy at business unit level.
- Acts as liaison or point person for audit interactions both internal and external for the business unit
- Maintains the asset register for the business unit.
- Liaises and negotiates with the unit’s creditors.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Accounting/Finance or any other related degree.
- Professional accounting qualification or working towards it is a must.
- At least 2 years’ experience in Accounting.
- Highly computer literate, MS Office, Pastel and related business and communication
tools.
