We are a leading producer, distributor and exporter of bananas, avocados and other fruit as well as apples and flowers in Zimbabwe and are continuing the growth and development of our production and distribution capacity. Our vision is to be a leader in all aspects of our chosen areas of operation. We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill the role of Accounting Officer for our Bulawayo Depot. The ideal candidate will have financial qualifications plus a few years’ experience but would have some operational or supervisory experience as well and must have the ability to think on his/her feet. Someone that can easily transition between financial roles and operational depot management when the depot manager is on leave or out of the office.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Accounting Officer
DIVISION: Bulawayo Depot
REPORTS TO: Depot Manager ——> Finance Manager
REPORTING STAFF: Nill
LOCATION: Bulawayo

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Access or bank deposit transactions processed within 24hrs of confirmation by bank.
  • Van Sales Accounts reconciled before next delivery.
  • Ensure all payments are authorised and supported by source documents.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly stock takes.
  • Prepare weekly Delivery Note closure and circulate.
  • Prepare Van Salesman debtors reconciliations.
  • Check and countersign mark downs in line with set Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Input processing (stock transfers, credit notes, carriage in and out).
  • Monitor/track movement of packaging in and out of the depot.
  • Conduct banking and make payments as per Treasury’s instructions.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures regarding cash management and invoicing procedures.
  • Other operational duties as assigned by Depot manager, as well as stand-in for when Depot manager is off duty.
  • Performing any other relevant duties as assigned by Management.
  • Ensuring occupational safety & health is always maintained.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. Accounting Qualification i.e. Bachelor of Accountancy, HND in Accountancy, Part CIS, ACCA, CIMA etc.
2. Experience – 3 years or more at Accounts clerk level and above
3. Some operational management experience will be highly advantageous
4. Clean class 4 driver’s license
5. Ability to quickly learn execute new things.
6. Must demonstrate strong communication skills.
7. Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
8. Good computer skills. Experience with Sage Evolution will be an added advantage.
