ACCOUNTANT
Location: Harare
Salary: +/- 400 $
A well-established organization seeks a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to join our
dynamic Accounts department in Harare. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in
financial management, compliance, and reporting.
In this role, you will oversee critical accounting functions, including accounts receivable/payable,
general ledger maintenance, financial reconciliations, tax compliance, and financial reporting. We are
looking for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills to ensure accuracy, efficiency,
and adherence to accounting standards.
Reporting Structure
Reporting To MANAGING DIRECTOR
Job Description
Assisting with the day-to-day functions of the Accounts department, including:
• Accounts Receivable and Payable
• General Ledger maintenance
• Bank reconciliations
• Journal entries
• Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Supporting the team in various accounting projects and initiatives
• Taxation related tasks (e.g., VAT returns, PAYE submissions, etc.)
• Learning and applying accounting principles and best practices
• Developing strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Accounts department
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
Education Level: Diploma/Degree Level
Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Accounting or any related program
Preferred Age: 35 and above
SKILLS
• Strong understanding of fundamental accounting concepts (e.g., debits/credits, GAAP, IFRS)
• Proficiency in financial statement preparation (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow
statement)
• Knowledge of relevant tax laws and regulations (e.g., VAT, PAYE)
• Proficiency in accounting software packages (e.g., QuickBooks, ZohoBooks)
• Microsoft Excel: Advanced Excel skills (formulas, functions, data analysis, pivot tables)
• Ability to identify and resolve accounting issues and discrepancies
• Ability to evaluate information, make sound judgments, and propose solutions
